Condolences Condolences were offered to the families and friends and a minute silence was held at the recent monthly Roscommon Macra Na Feirme executive meeting for two Macra members who died recently. Both Brian King, Kilglass who was a member of the Tarmonbarry Club and Danny Hynes, Tulsk, who was a member of the Tulsk Club died tragically as a result of separate car accidents. Recent competitions The County rounds of the Club Question Time and the Know Your Agriculture Table Quiz took place in Murray’s Bar Knockcroghery recently. There was a large turnout on the night and Elphin Club were triumphant in the Question Time while Castlerea were winners in the Know Your Agriculture Quiz. We wish both teams every success in the National finals. County bowling took place recently in the Roscommon Bowling alley. Best of look to Knockcroghery Club who came first and will represent Roscommon in the National finals of this event. The County rounds of the Beef and Sheep Stock judging took place on the farm of Mike Gately, Knockcroghery. There was a big participation in this competition. Winners on the night were Senior Beef Stock judging Liam Cormican, Junior Beef Stock judging David Beirne, Senior Sheep Stock judging James Brennan and Junior Sheep Stock judging Trevor Brennan. All winners came from the Knockcroghery club. The National finals of these competitions will take place at the Macra Rally in Clonmel. Tarmonbarry will represent Roscommon in the National Finals of the Ladies 7-aside-GAA competition which will take place at the Macra Rally in Clonmel. Western Rodeo night Roscommon Macra are having a Western Rodeo Night in Jacks Live, in the Royal Hotel Roscommon on Friday the 2nd November. A mechanical Rodeo Bull will be there on the night. Tickets are now on sale. Further information will be available next week. Tarmonbarry social A recruitment social for people wishing to join Macra will be held in the Shannon Bar Tarmonbarry, Saturday 20th October 10 pm. Music on the night by Martin Guruim and a draw will take place for a holiday for two in one of Ireland’s top hotels. Other spot prizes to be won on the night. Admission optional. Macra Rally 2007 taking place at the end of the month! John Lonergan, the Governor of Mountjoy Prison, is to attend this year’s Macra na Feirme annual conference as guest speaker at the Gala Banquet on Sunday, 28 October.  The annual conference, or ‘Rally’ as it is more fondly know, will this year be sponsored by Dairygold and takes place in the Clonmel Park Hotel from 26 to 29 October.
