Castlerea remains the least expensive Eircode area in Ireland in which to buy a home, according to new figures published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) on Wednesday.
The median price paid for a residential property in the F45 Castlerea Eircode area stood at €157,000 in the 12 months to June 2026.
That compares with a national median residential property price of €396,000 over the same period.
Castlerea was followed by H23 Clones in Co. Monaghan, where the median price was €176,000, and F93 Lifford in Co. Donegal, where it stood at €177,500.
At the opposite end of the market, A94 Blackrock in Dublin was the country’s most expensive Eircode area, recording a median price of €851,750. The five most expensive Eircode areas in the country were all located in Dublin.
The figures come as residential property prices nationally increased by 5.6 per cent in the 12 months to June, the lowest annual rate of increase recorded since January 2024.
Prices outside Dublin continued to grow more quickly, rising by 6.4 per cent compared with an increase of 4.6 per cent in the capital.
A total of 4,058 residential property purchases by households were filed with Revenue during June,
with a combined value of €1.82 billion. Of these, 2,973 involved existing homes while 1,085 were purchases of new dwellings.
There were also 1,705 first-time buyer purchases filed during the month, an increase of 11.4 per cent compared with June last year.
The CSO cautions that median prices should not themselves be used to measure changes in property prices over time, as the mix of properties sold can vary from one period to another.
