Roscommon GAA Scór Sinsir Final 2026

Reigning champions Elphin came out on top again in the tráth na gceisteanna (table quiz) category of this year’s Roscommon Scór Sinsir Final.

Kilmurry Hall hosted a wonderful display of local GAA talent on Saturday, March 13th, as clubs from all over the county contested the Roscommon Scór Sinsir Final.

The first category was the tráth na gceisteanna (table quiz). Teams from Elphin, Tulsk, Creggs, Kilglass Gaels, Clann na Gael, and Roscommon Gaels took part. Tulsk, Elphin and Kilglass progressed to the stage final round, and after strong answering from all, it was reigning champions  Elphin who emerged victorious.

Elphin delivered a spirited performance as sole entrants in the rince seit (set dancing) competition at the recent Roscommon Scór Sinsir Final.

The amhránaíocht aonair (solo singing) was a keenly contested event. Loretta Connaughton (St Dominic’s), Sorcha Gilboy (St Michael’s), Saoirse Murray (Kilbride), Olivia Bliss (St Dominic’s), and Chelcy Sharkey (Kilmore), all gave strong performances, but it was Fionnán Seale who won the title for Pádraig Pearses with his fantastic rendition of ‘England’s Motorway’.

Yvonne Foley (Kilmore), Vincent Pearse (St Dominic’s), Miriam Darcy (Pádraig Pearses), and Máire Ní Dhonnacha (St Michael’s) turned in strong deliveries in the aithriseoireacht/scéalaíocht (recitation/storytelling) competition. However it was Tom Costello with his performance of ‘The Manager’ who won the adjudicator’s approval, ensuring a hat-trick of titles for Pádraig Pearses in this event.

Tom Costello of Pádraig Pearses was the overall winner in the aithriseoireacht/scéalaíocht (recitation/storytelling) competition at the recent Roscommon Scór Sinsir Final, for his performance of ‘The Manager’.

The bailéad ghrúpa (ballad group) discipline proved highly enjoyable, with groups from St Dominic’s and Pádraig Pearses contesting strongly. The title was bound for the St Michael’s club, who deservedly regained the accolade they won in 2024, with their polished renditions of ‘Tráthnóna Aoine’ and ‘The Faughan Side’. Special mention must go to St Michael’s Niamh Reynolds, who displayed all of the wonderful spirit and local pride that makes the GAA such a special association, as she performed for her club despite the loss of her grandfather, John Burke (RIP), in recent days.

In the nuachleas (novelty act) discipline, Elphin, Pádraig Pearses, and St Dominic’s all provided great humour and entertainment. In what was undoubtedly a tight affair, the Knockcroghery club emerged the victor and will now hope to defend the All-Ireland title they won in this event last year.

In the ceol uirlise (instrumental music) event, the audience was treated to a fantastic showcase for traditional music. Six groups from Elphin, St Michael’s, and St Ronan’s, battled it out for their place in the Connacht final. The win went to an exceptionally polished St Ronan’s team who regain the title they last won three years ago.

Sole entrants in the rince seit (set dancing), Elphin rose the energy levels with a spirited display to finish off one of the best county finals in Roscommon Scór in many years.

Thank are extended to fantastic MC Cian Diffley, Runaí Coiste Scór Ros Comáin, to Adrian McDermot (sound), and the fantastic Kilmurry Hall for the welcome to their beautiful facility. Winners were presented with their cups by Cathaoirleach of GLG Ros Comáin, Tom Murray.

This is a ticket-only event; tickets can be purchased through the link on the Connacht GAA website, or the Scór Roscomáin and Connacht Scór Facebook pages.

Thanks are extended to all clubs for their wonderful efforts to promote Scór, and the best of luck to those who progress to provincial level. Ros Comáin abú!
