Polish diplomat visits Boyle for Irish–Polish concert

Artur Michalski, Poland’s chargé d’affaires in Ireland, visited King House in Boyle on Saturday, September 26, for a concert bringing together Irish and Polish musicians. He was accompanied by the Polish Embassy’s First Counsellor, Agnieszka Skolimowska.

An Irish Songbook featured Simon Morgan and the Richie Buckley Quartet alongside visiting musicians Emil Miszk and Patrycja Wybranczyk from Gdańsk, Poland.

The event was supported by Roscommon County Council in association with Coast2Coast and Cultúr2026, and funded through the Culture Programme for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Mr Michalski and Ms Skolimowska were welcomed by the Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Cllr Domnick Connolly; Chief Executive Shane Tiernan; Arts Officer Rhona McGrath; Senior Executive Officer Fiona Ní Chuinn; and King House manager Patricia Golden.

Cllr Connolly said he hoped the visit would be the first of many opportunities for the embassy representatives to experience Roscommon’s heritage and history. He thanked Caroline Wynne of Creative Connexions Ireland and Artscope, with the support of the council’s Arts Office, for organising the concert.

He also welcomed the visiting musicians and praised Patricia Golden and the King House team for hosting the event. Mr Michalski spoke of the enduring ties between Ireland and Poland.
