More than 6,000 people attended the Irish Hot Air Ballooning Championships at Lough Key Forest Park on Sunday evening, according to organisers.
Competitors from Ireland, Britain and the United States are taking part in the week-long event, which continues in Boyle until Friday.
The championships got underway on Sunday after Saturday’s planned flight was cancelled because of windy conditions. More than 1,500 spectators were already reported at Lough Key for Sunday’s morning launch before crowds swelled considerably for the evening activities.
Flights are scheduled for 7 am and 5 pm from Monday to Thursday, with a final 7 am flight on Friday, subject to weather conditions.
