Roscommon-based pharmaceutical manufacturer Dunbar Pharma is set to showcase its capabilities at one of Europe’s leading pharmacy trade fairs following the company’s expansion into the German and UK markets.
The Monksland-based company will attend expopharm 2026 in Munich from September 15th to 17th, where it will meet pharmacists, pharmaceutical companies and other industry representatives from across Europe.
Dunbar Pharma manufactures plant-derived dronabinol, a pharmaceutical active ingredient, at its EU GMP-certified facility in the Athlone area.
The company markets its plant-derived dronabinol API under the WaterClear THC trademark and has already commercially launched the product in Germany.
Dunbar Pharma manufactures plant-derived dronabinol, a highly purified pharmaceutical-grade form of delta-9-THC, the main psychoactive compound found in cannabis.
Unlike cannabis flower or extracts, the company produces dronabinol as a precisely controlled active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), which can then be used by licensed pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies to produce medicines.
Dunbar says its product is derived from cannabis plant material rather than being synthetically produced and is manufactured at its EU GMP-certified facility in the Athlone area.
It has also entered the UK market through an agreement with IPS Pharma, making its pharmaceutical-grade dronabinol available through the UK’s regulated Specials framework.
Founder and CEO Leah Fletcher and members of the Dunbar Pharma team will attend the Munich event, where the company will focus on pharmaceutical manufacturing standards, product consistency and continuity of supply.
Dunbar Pharma said its attendance follows the establishment of its product in Germany and subsequent expansion into the UK, with the company now looking to develop further relationships in European markets.
The company specialises in pharmaceutical-grade cannabinoid active pharmaceutical ingredients and operates under the oversight of the Health Products Regulatory Authority.
Dunbar Pharma was named Emerging Company of the Year at the BioPharmaChem Impact Awards earlier this year and also received the Ambition and Growth Award at the 2026 Roscommon County Enterprise Awards.
The company currently employs around 30 people and previously outlined plans to grow its workforce as it expands its international business.
