Members of the public have until 5.30pm on Friday, October 16 to make observations on Roscommon County Council’s proposed waterfront park and marina development at Hodson Bay.
The council is seeking approval from An Coimisiún Pleanála for the project, which covers approximately nine hectares at Barrymore. The plans include a new water sports pavilion and café, an expanded marina, a lakeside promenade, playground and public spaces.
The marina proposal provides for approximately 29 additional berths, bringing its stated capacity to about 59. The plans also include a shared pedestrian and cycle route along the L2020 from the N61 junction, changes to parking and traffic-calming measures. The application states that the total number of parking spaces would rise to 504.
An Environmental Impact Assessment Report and Natura Impact Statement accompany the application. The documents can be inspected at Áras an Chontae during public opening hours or viewed through the council’s website.
Observations must be submitted to An Coimisiún Pleanála by the deadline. A €50 fee applies, subject to the stated exceptions. The project is an application for approval, and the proposed facilities have not been granted permission.
