Ballaghaderreen local artists exhibition expects continued high turnout

There was a great turnout at the opening of the Ballaghaderreen Local Artists exhibition on Friday, July 31 in Phoenix Youth Centre. The exhibition, part of the fourth edition of the Ballaghaderreen Arts Festival, is organised by Community Art Group Ballaghaderreen.

It showcases a great variety of affordable art works – more than 120 – by 26 artists from seven nationalities.

The official opening was performed by local TD Claire Kerrane and the music of the Ukedorys contributed to the festive atmosphere. Most of the artists were present, so there was ample opportunity to discuss their work.

The feedback from the visitors was very enthusiastic and the first sales were agreed, with lively exchanges between artists and buyers.

In the meantime, already more than 200 people have visited the exhibition.

There is still time to see the art, as the exhibition is open every day during the festival from 12.00am – 18.00am. The last possible time to visit is on Sunday the 9th of August. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
