Dermot Hughes Cars Roscommon Senior Camogie A Final: Athleague v Oran at Lisnamult on Saturday at 3 pm
Athleague and Oran will contest this year’s Roscommon Senior Camogie ‘A’ Championship final following impressive semi-final victories.
Oran booked their place in the decider with a 1-12 to 0-10 victory over St Dominic’s in last weekend’s semi-final replay, while Athleague had earlier recorded a comfortable 2-12 to 0-6 win over Four Roads.
Managed by Colm Kelly, Oran will be anxious to put the disappointment of last year’s agonising one-point defeat to St Dominic’s behind them. They boast a strong blend of experienced campaigners and emerging young talent.
Shauna McDermott, Anna Hussey, Deirdre Regan, Orla Connolly, who returns from injury, Erin McDermott, Isobel Kenny, Catriona Regan, Andrea Fallon, Michaela Finneran and Claire Curley are among those expected to feature for Oran.
Athleague, managed by Sean O’Brien, have also impressed throughout this year’s campaign. They have plenty of talent at their disposal, with Paula Daly, Chloe Whyte Lennon, Aideen O’Brien, Ciara Dowd, Rachel Fitzmaurice, Rachel Neilan and Tara O’Brien among their key players.
The two managers have worked together at county level over the years, but they will be on opposing sidelines this Saturday in what promises to be a closely contested encounter.
Athleague will be determined to win the title, but Oran’s experience, including of that narrowest of defeats last year, could prove decisive.
*The Roscommon Senior Camogie B final between St Dominic’s and Four Roads will take place at 1 pm.
