A new Habitat ReStore has officially opened at Monksland Retail Park in Athlone.
The social enterprise, operated by Habitat for Humanity Ireland, sells donated new and used DIY, building and home-improvement materials at reduced prices.
ReStore also provides training and volunteering opportunities while seeking to prevent reusable materials from going to landfill.
The new outlet at Unit 9, Monksland Retail Park will serve communities across Roscommon, Westmeath and the wider Midlands.
Habitat for Humanity Ireland Chief Executive Jenny Williams said the organisation had received a strong welcome locally and encouraged individuals and businesses to support the project through donations and volunteering.
She said ReStore brings together people from different backgrounds while helping households access home-improvement materials at lower prices.
The Athlone outlet is the ninth Habitat ReStore operating in Ireland.
The shop and donation centre is open from 9.30 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturday.
Cllr Valerie Duffy of Roscommon County Council joined Habitat representatives for the official opening.
