Further changes proposed to Roscommon County Development Plan

Members of the public have been given another opportunity to have their say on proposed changes to the Roscommon County Development Plan.

A series of material alterations to proposed Variation No. 1 of the Roscommon County Development Plan 2022–2028 have now gone on public display following consideration of the plan by elected members.

The latest stage follows a special meeting of Roscommon County Council earlier this month at which councillors considered Variation No. 1 and the Chief Executive’s report on submissions received during the previous consultation process.

The proposed material alterations, along with associated environmental documentation, went on public display on Friday, September 18.

They represent changes made to the proposed variation following the earlier consultation and consideration process.

The documentation includes an SEA Environmental Report, SEA Screening Determination and Appropriate Assessment screening material examining the potential environmental implications of the proposed alterations.

Members of the public can now make submissions or observations specifically relating to the latest material alterations.

However, Roscommon County Council has stressed that submissions at this stage must relate to the proposed material alterations themselves rather than other aspects of the County Development Plan.

Anyone making a submission is also required to quote the relevant proposed Material Alteration reference number.

The documents can be inspected online through the dedicated Roscommon County Development Plan website.

Hard copies are also available at the Planning Section at Áras an Chontae in Roscommon Town, Council area offices in Boyle and Monksland, and libraries in Roscommon, Boyle, Ballaghaderreen, Castlerea and Strokestown.

Submissions can be made online or in writing to the Forward Planning Section of Roscommon County Council.

Email submissions will not be accepted.

The deadline for submissions is 4 pm on Monday, October 19.
