Comedian Sharon Mannion will bring her brand new stand-up show Jukebox Donkey to Roscommon Arts Centre on Friday, June 12th.
Following the runaway success of Sharondipity, Sharon returns with a new show that promises to be both hilarious and heartfelt, as she reflects on showbiz disappointment, parenting chaos, the pressure of chasing success, and the absurdity of trying to keep everyone else happy.
The title comes from the feeling that life can sometimes make you feel like a “jukebox donkey” – constantly playing someone else’s tune. In this new performance, Sharon takes that idea and turns it into a sharp, funny and very relatable night of comedy.
A major part of the show centres on Sharon’s experience on Britain’s Got Talent. Having been invited onto the programme, she delivered a performance that received four yes’s from the judges – including Simon Cowell – only to later discover that her appearance had been left on the cutting room floor.
The result is a show about expectation, disappointment and resilience, told with Sharon’s trademark humour and honesty.
Alongside the highs and lows of the entertainment industry, Jukebox Donkey also looks at family life, parenting, meeting your heroes, and the gap between the glamorous version of success people imagine and the reality of serving “tiny divas” at home.
Sharon has earned praise for her energetic and engaging performances, with Chortle describing her as delivering a “faultless performance, rich in indignity and passion”, while Neil Delamere has called her “brilliant” and “mischievous.”
Jukebox Donkey takes place at Roscommon Arts Centre on Friday, June 12th at 8 pm. Tickets are €21, including booking fee, and are available from Roscommon Arts Centre.
