This year’s Night and Day Festival takes place on the grounds of Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle from May 29th to May 31st inclusive, coinciding with the June Bank Holiday Weekend.
The event is essentially a premier music festival with a reputation of being one of the country’s most exciting summer music events. There are many other attractions that festival-goers can savour, not just on site, but also when visiting the wider Boyle area.
Around 100 acts will perform across four new stages, including the newly added ‘Sound Bar’ stage which is a collaboration with iconic Galway music venues the Roisin Dubh and The Blue Bote as well as Sligo Brewery The White Hag.
The main Queen Medb stage will host award winning Kila on the Friday night, The Saw Doctors on the Saturday and The Boomtown Rats on the Sunday, as well as a host of other acts.
The Sol Stage will host DJ Jenny Greene on the Friday night. Last year, revellers were treated to a spectacular lights and dance music performance from the site of the iconic Moylurg Tower on the grounds of Lough Key with this year’s experience promising to be even better.
The Luna stage will see emerging Dublin group M(h)aol and Lemoncello both performing on the Saturday, while local artist Arlene from Ballintubber will also perform that night. Another locally based performer, Deirdre Cunningham will perform on the Una Bhán stage on the Saturday with Mayo singer-songwriter James Biggins taking to the same stage on the Sunday.
This year’s festival sees a dedicated Family Zone on site, running from 12 midday to 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Among the attractions will be a robotics workshop, Kite Making workshops, foraging for medicinal plants, circus skills, mask and flag crafting, etc.
Night and Day co-founder Craig Hughes says the festival has expanded their wellness programme once again this year, remarking: “The aim is to give revellers a chance to recharge each morning with some relaxing wellness while overlooking the beauty of Lough Key. It’s something we were eager to expand on last year, which we’ve succeeded in doing.
“A full list of all performers is available to view on our website www.nightandday.com and on our social media channels.”
