Activities will take place in Ballaghaderreen, Boyle, Castlerea, Roscommon Town, Strokestown and Monksland, as well as in libraries and cultural venues throughout the county with many highlights.
There will be a Funfest event in Strokestown Park House celebrating Creativity at Play. This is a lively children’s festival featuring sensory zones and Irish-language creative spaces.
Wonder Walls Roscommon is an exciting street art project where young people collaborate on a large-scale mural with live music performances. Meanwhile, Lift Off – From Page to Stage, is a unique workshop and live performance experience for young writers and musicians.
There will also be a Laugh Out Loud Comedy Workshop, offering teens the chance to develop stand-up and performance skills. Ballaghaderreen will host a magical Mini Aladdin Musical performance, suitable for younger audiences.
As well as these exciting events, there will be hands-on craft experiences including crochet workshops, lantern making, and wire sculpture and printing sessions. There will be a series of innovative creative programmes such as Vinyl Design workshops, Museum of Believing (archaeology and storytelling), and Visual Noise combining street art and drumming.
Creative Youth on Air – where participants will produce and broadcast live radio content with Athlone Community Radio – is another highlight, while exhibitions such as Voices of Monksland Youth Café will showcase young people’s artistic work. There will be interactive and creative learning experiences through Heritage Heroes activities in libraries countywide.
This year’s programme celebrates creativity in all its forms – from visual arts and music to theatre, storytelling, craft, and digital media. The programme is carefully designed to cater for all age groups, with activities ranging from early years sensory play to advanced creative workshops for teenagers. All events are free, though some are drop-in, while others require booking due to limited capacity.
