It is that time of year again – time for the Saddlers Inn’s 15th Annual Country Music Festival. On the weekend of the 12th, 13th and 14th of August every year music lovers flock to the festival in Kingsland, near Boyle.
This year we kick off our festival on Friday, 12th of August with local man Patrick Feeney and his band. Patrick is back on the dance circuit for the summer season and is busy touring all over Ireland. His return to the dance scene coincides with the release of his new album, I Believe. The 12-track album includes the ever-popular song ‘Red Haired Mary’ along with Patrick’s newest single, ‘Ten Out Of Ten’.
Eamon McCann returns to The Saddlers Inn on Saturday 13th of August. He bought his first guitar with the money he received for winning a local talent contest and, at the age of sixteen, and along with his two younger brothers, he started playing his music all around his home county of Tyrone. After some persuasion from close friends, Eamon made his first recording in 1990 – a demo album entitled ‘I Give You Music’ – and he has been giving us music ever since!
On Sunday night 14th of August, Derry native John McNichol will bring his show to the Saddlers Inn. Highlights of John’s singing career to date include sharing a stage with Daniel O’Donnell and Sir Cliff Richard at the Kincasslagh Festival, Co. Donegal. John also played support to the legendary Sir Elton John.
John’s second album ‘Whats a guy gotta do’ and his third album ‘Irish Collection Volume 1’ have made John a household name in Irish country music.
This weekend brings the best of Ireland’s country music to one venue for three nights of enjoyable music and dancing. If you are a fan of country music then you cannot miss this great line-up –there is something for everyone!
