World Whistle win for Fiona!

Ballintubber musician, Fiona Sirr, said she was “super chuffed” to be named as the winner of a recent World Whistle Day competition.

The Carlow native posted a video of herself performing ‘Annie’s Song’ and was announced as the winner of the ‘World of Whistles’ competition, which featured entries from around the world, last weekend.

“There were fantastic music clips posted from all over the world and to say I am honoured to be named the winner is an understatement. I am so grateful to the judges at World of Whistles and delighted to be recognised,” she said.

While understandably pleased with global recognition for her whistle prowess, Fiona says her feet remain firmly on the ground.

“I told the kids when I received the email at the weekend telling me I’d won and their response was, ‘That’s great mam, now what’s for dinner?’ I think I’ll hold off on the world tour for now!”
