WinterKing will take centre stage at JJ Harlow’s in The Square, Roscommon town this Saturday. The Cavan three-piece comprises of brothers Lee, Michael and Ferdia O’Brien. The group’s sound involves a little bit of everything including folk, indie, reggae, alternative rock and electronica.
WinterKing’s repertoire features tracks such as ‘The Higher Stuff’, ‘The City of Mirrors’ and ‘All My Own’ and their musical styling and authentic sound should suit the intimate surrounds of JJ’s.
Michael took one of the WinterKing team and answered the questions…
Describe WinterKing in three words.
Lee, Michael, Ferdia. (Very diplomatic!).
Would you guys rather rock a sold-out stadium or tour Europe’s more intimate venues?
Intimate venues would suit us but we wouldn’t mind the stadiums either!
What was your most embarrassing moment on stage?
It was probably the time we held up a charity gig for half an hour because Lee managed to plug his leads into the wrong side of his guitar pedal!
What’s your one hope for 2017?
That would be simply to play more music to more people as we were off the scene for most of last year!
What can the audience expect at JJ Harlow’s this Saturday night?
A good night of uplifting, foot-stomping, original music with far-reaching influences and a few twisted covers. Put it this way, you won’t be bored anyway!
