FBD League Semi-Final

Roscommon 3-17 Sligo 2-13

Roscommon senior footballers have qualified for the Connacht FBD League final for the 9th year in a row after an unconvincing 3-17 to 2-13 win against Sligo on Friday night at the NUIG Air Dome in Bekan.

Ben O’Carroll scored a goal in the 14th minute less than a minute after Sean Carabine’s fine goal for the Yeats County.

But Pat O’Connor’s goal in the 30th minute helped Sligo into a 2-9 to 1-9 half-time lead.

Sligo made seven changes at half-time and Roscommon improved after the break.

Captain for the night Keith Doyle was outstanding and he scored two cracking goals to see the Rossies edge ahead in the final quarter.

Roscommon will play Mayo or Galway in the final next Friday night (January 20th).
