The Windmill Wheelers Cycling Club, based in Elphin, recently presented SOS Support to Overcome Suicide group with a cheque for €12,000. The money, which was raised following a charity cycle from Elphin to Paris, was presented to SOS at a homecoming event in The Central Bar in Elphin on Friday, September 2nd.
Since the group of 18 have returned to Elphin, money has continued to flow in with the estimated funds currently standing at over €13,000.
The cyclists would like to thank the community for their wonderful support before, during and after this momentous 630km cycle.
The group would also like to thank the following: Damien from DS Signs for supplying signs for the van free of charge; John Nolan for driving the van; Gerry Beirne for supplying the van; Adrian Rhattigan for supplying the bus to pick the lads up from Dublin on their return; Edel Murray for supplying the delicious food on the night free of charge; Tina Brennan for promoting the event; Irish Ferries for giving €300 in vouchers and Elphin Fire Brigade, Talbot Hotel, Carlow and Jones Oil for spot prizes.
