Wicklow goal burst condemns Roscommon to defeat

Three goals in a six minute spell from the 58th minute saw Wicklow secure a 3-10 to 1-11 win against a battling Roscommon in the final round match in the Christy Ring Cup play at Aughrim on Saturday. Ryan Hanley’s men match the hosts score for score for three quarters of the game with the sides locked together at 0-7 apiece at the break. But Wicklow pulled away with those three goals. Adam Donnelly scored a late goal from a free but it was of consolation value only for Roscommon who will be demoted to the Nickey Rackard Cup next year. If New York were to win the Rackard Cup this year they will get a reprieve. But it has been a disappointing season all told.
