Weekend previews with Seamus Duke

Weekend previews with Seamus Duke  Abbey Hotel League: O’Rourke Cup Padraig Pearses v Castlerea (Sunday in Castlerea at 4 pm): Both sides have reasonable form coming into this game and with the championship on the way they will be keen to get the two points here. Pearses went down to Kilmore last weekend and Castlerea at home look the better bet. Prediction: Castlerea.   Strokestown v Elphin (Sunday in Strokestown at 2.30 pm): Strokestown are going along nicely and they had five points to spare over St. Faithleachs last weekend. This local derby will be close but Strokestown are going a bit better and they may shade it. Prediction: Strokestown.   St. Barrys v Kilmore (Sunday in Tarmonbarry at 2.30 pm): Barrys have been playing well in the league without taking too many points thus far. Kilmore had an excellent win against Pearses at the weekend and they should be good enough to turn over their neighbours here. Prediction: Kilmore.   St. Dominics v Roscommon Gaels Tuesday 29th in Knockcroghery at 8 pm. Both sides have been inconsistent and the result here will depend on the strength of the teams fielded on the night. A risky prediction for an away win. Prediction: Roscommon Gaels.   Michael Holland Tyres O’Gara Cup Clan naGael v Strokestown-Saturday at 7.30pm in Johnstown. Clan na Gael are now going well after a very shaky start to the O’Gara Cup. They should win this one at home. Prediction: Clan na Gael.   Eire Og v Western Gaels (Sunday at 2.30 pm at Loughglynn): Never much between these two and same expected here. Eire Og at home are not easily beaten so I will chance a home win as the outcome. Prediction: Eire Og.   Tulsk v Michael Glaveys (Sunday at 2.30 pm). Another tight game to call here. Tulsk are going along well while Glaveys have been inconsistent. It might be better to stick with Tulsk. Prediction: Tulsk.   Boyle v St. Croans (Sunday 12.30 pm at The Abbey Park): Here are two teams with ambitions to win the Intermediate Championship later in the year. This should be a tight game. Croans might just be the stronger. Prediction: St. Croans.   Shannon Gaels v Clan na Gael (Sunday in Croghan at 2.30 pm): Shannon Gaels at home should be too good for Clan’s second string. Prediction: Shannon Gaels.   Mid South Junior A football Championship St. Josephs v Creggs (Saturday in Knockcrogery at 7.30 pm):  This will be the game of the weekend between two teams that will be looking to win the Junior championship this year. There won’t be a kick of a ball between these teams. It’s a toss-up but Creggs maybe – just!! Prediction: Creggs.
