‘We’ll meet Evans as soon as possible’ – Fahey

Roscommon GAA County Board will be meeting with John Evans to discuss the senior football team management situation for next season “within the next couple of weeks”.

Speaking to the Roscommon People last weekend, Roscommon County Board chairperson Michael Fahey said that both sides will sit down and decide the way forward in the next few weeks.

“We will meet as soon as possible because we have to get things into place for what will be a very busy 2016. We will chat to John and take it from there” Mr. Fahey said.

John Evans made a number of appearances on the national media over the weekend. He was on the RTE Radio One’s Saturday Sport programme and also appeared with Paul Collins on Today FM on his ‘Championship Sunday’ programme.

On both programmes John Evans said that he would be meeting with the County Board before he would decide on anything and that he would consult with his family before making any final decision on his future.

The Kerry man was originally given a two-year contract with an option of a third year and those three years are now up.

With Roscommon playing in Division One the National Football League in 2016 it is imperative that the management issue is settled as soon as possible.
