Ward: ‘Lough Funshinagh delay unacceptable’

Roscommon County Councillor Tony Ward has described the delay in approving funding for much-needed drainage works at Lough Funshinagh as ‘unacceptable’.

He said: “There’s no reason it should be sent to the OPW. There are four or five families threatened and we don’t want a situation where we are going to be looking at this again.”

Roscommon County Council has employed consultants to carry out a detailed hydrogeological investigation into the behaviour of turloughs in the county and this study is not expected to be completed until 2019.

Cllr. Ward was informed that Roscommon County Council would not be in a position to progress with any further works until the study was completed.
