Loughglynn boxer Donal Ward got the 2007/08 season off to a winning start when he won the Connacht U-21 Championship at 75kg on Saturday last in Westport. Donal, current U-19 75kg All-Ireland champion, defeated the current 71kg All-Ireland champion Patrick Ward of Galway in convincing fashion by 13 pts to 2 pts (P. Ward having moved up a weight this season). Donal now goes ahead to the National Championships in Dublin in two weeks’ time.
