This week, one lucky shopper gets to walk away with a hamper of delicious country produce from Friday’s Roscommon Farmers Market. Throughout the summer, shoppers at the market have been invited to add their name and number to a list for one to be drawn at random to receive a hamper of delicious produce from the market. A full range of hand made or home grown produce is now available at the market, which is held every Friday morning from 10 am in the yard beside Gleeson’s Town House in the town centre. Many of the items for sale at the market are not available anywhere else in town. There is organic meat and poultry; fresh fish from Donegal; artisan baked breads; home baked fruit tarts, buns and cakes; organic eggs, beans and pulses; Irish fruit juices; homemade jam, marmalade and chutney; organic cheeses; fresh local salads and vegetables; and organic fruit and vegetables from around the world. Visitors to the market can now enjoy a good selection of lunch time food, including hot and cold snacks, organic soft drinks, and fair trade tea and coffee available to take away or to eat alfresco at one of the covered tables. Roscommon Farmers’ Market continues every Friday morning from 10 am until 2 pm.
