Nationally, more than 61,000 Leaving Cert students are receiving their results, which have been artificially boosted following a commitment made by Minister for Education Norma Foley earlier this year.
Scores have been boosted by an average 5.6 per cent as the State Examinations Commission (SEC) said that marks were added on a sliding scale in order to match last year’s results.
This follows a commitment by the Minister of Education that students’ results would be no lower on aggregate than last year’s. This means that for the second year in a row results are exceptionally high.
Prior to the SEC adjustment this year’s results were said to be lower on average than 2021.
