Vital Signs tour to visit Roscommon Care Homes today

County Roscommon is the final stop of a special tour entitled ‘Vital Signs’ taking place this Tuesday, August 29th and is supported by Poetry Ireland and ‘Festival in a Van’.

Poet and dramatist Terry McDonagh along with musical duo Emer Mayock and Donal Siggins will visit The Sacred Heart Hospital & Care Home, Roscommon; Arás Mathar Phoil Castlerea and The Plunkett Community Nursing Unit in Boyle.

‘Vital Signs’ features many of Ireland’s best poets and musicians, offering a series of new gigs that focus on health, healing and wellbeing.

The Vital Signs is curated by poet and Editor Martin Dyar and guided by the poetry anthology Vital Signs, this tour will bring poets and musicians to staff and clients in care homes, community hospitals and day care centres across the country.

Later next month, as part as part of Culture Night, another event associated with the tour is a ‘Poetry SOS Clinic’ at Roscommon Arts Centre, where people can pop in to meet acclaimed local poet Gerry Boland who will, after a chat with each participant, select and prescribe a Vital Signs poem for each person.
