Vibrate dance fest this weekend

Vibrate Dance Festival, a celebration of contemporary dance takes place this weekend in Roscommon. Citizens of Roscommon and visitors to the town will encounter dancers in a range of wonderful venues, including sports clubs, bars, banks, showrooms and even the Farmers’ Market on Friday morning.  The festival is designed to give newcomers an opportunity to take a look at dance as they’ve never seen it before and you’ll be delighted to discover that a ticket for the full weekend of workshops costs only €15. As well as performances in Roscommon Arts Centre, which includes the internationally renowned Scottish Dance Company, dance companies will be performing in locations as diverse as the park, the farmers market, Keane’s Car showroom, the Central Bar, St. Coman’s Handball Club and even a bit in the Bank of Ireland. As well as performances, there are also workshops in Roscommon Arts Centre over the weekend as well. The festival, now in its third successful year is organised by Roscommon and Westmeath County Council Arts Offices and Westmeath Sports Partnerships in association with Dance Ireland and the Arts Council to increase the profile of contemporary dance and to encourage the participation in dance among the community.
