VHI GAA Cul camps are going from strength to strength

One of the most successful summer camps   for children are the VHI GAA Cul camps which will be held in several venues throughout Co. Roscommon in July and the start of August.    They are held over one week duration Monday to Friday between 10 am and 2.30 pm each day.   The idea of the camps is that children from 7 to 13 years can learn and develop their Gaelic Games skills in a fun and non competitive environment.   The camps afford the children an opportunity to learn new skills, to meet people and to have fun.   The personnel involved are all qualified and experienced coaches who have a proven record of working with children.   The camps are structured so that a different aspect of the game (whether it be football hurling or camogie) is worked on every day.   On the final day of the camp a fun blitz will be organised to introduce the children to competitive sport.   Children will need to bring a packed lunch and a drink, a hurley and helmet if needed, suitable playing gear, change of clothes on wet days, sun cream if needed, a towel and a drink of water.   Each participating child will receive a full set of Cul camp gear which includes an international jersey, togs, socks and rucksack.    The camps in Roscommon start on Monday, July 2nd at Hyde Park, Roscommon and there are camps in your area throughout the summer (see advertisement on this page).    The cost is €60 per child and €40 for each additional child. There are hurling and camogie camps too. For further details please contact Willie Hegarty, Roscommon Games Manager on 086-8356227. FAI summer camps The National Irish Bank FAI summer camps 2007 will take place nationwide at venues throughout the country between July 2nd and August 24th.   The camps are open to boys and girls aged between 7 and 15 years.
