Councillor Valerie Byrne has been selected by the Roscommon Hospital Action Committee as their candidate for the forthcoming local elections, being held on 24th of May, 2019.
In a statement issued earlier this week, the HAC said: “We are delighted that Councillor Byrne will stand again this year as an Independent HAC candidate which will offer the people of the Boyle Municipal District a strong and hard-working choice on the ballot paper”.
Cllr. Byrne has been an Independent councillor since 2002 and, says the HAC, has been “instrumental in the campaign to retain services at Roscommon University Hospital and the Sacred Heart Hospital”.
Speaking after her selection, Cllr. Byrne said that she has a track record of “delivering results on infrastructure, environment and social issues in my area as well as continuing the fight to retain and develop health services in the county”.
She added: “I will continue to work hard for everyone in my community and I am looking forward to meeting you all on my canvass”.
