The Government has ruled out another round of universal electricity credits as part of Budget 2027.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin confirmed that energy credits for every household will not form part of the Budget when it is announced next month.
The Government last provided a universal household energy credit in early 2025.
Mr Martin said large-scale one-off payments reduce the amount of money available for measures which can provide more lasting support.
The comments come amid renewed attention on the cost of living, with energy prices among the areas continuing to put pressure on household budgets.
The Government is instead expected to target supports more closely while also introducing changes to income tax in next month’s Budget.
