U14 football development tournament   To complete our programme with this year’s U14 development squad panel Roscommon are taking part in a blitz day in Sligo on this Saturday, October 6 th,   in Tubbercurry starting at 11 am. Players will be notified of all the arrangements. Taking part is Sligo, Roscommon and Fermanagh; Roscommon will have two squads on the day. Roscommon CBS hurlers in Connacht 1 st year blitz The 1 st year hurlers of Roscommon CBS are taking part in a Connacht secondary schools blitz day in Padraig Pearses GAA grounds on next Monday, October 8 th against teams from Galway and Mayo. The 2 nd year hurling team will also be involved in a blitz day on the following Monday, October 15 th in Padraig Pearses. Fun Do Coaching DVD Rom   The GAA coaching and games development committee in Croke Park are about to launch (nationwide) a fantastic FUN DO.     Coaching DVD ROM for football and hurling on Monday, October 1 st for kids ages between 6 and 13. This DVD is a must for all coaches, parents and teachers to promote the learning of key skills in gaelic football and hurling using a fun and positive approach who are coaching players in this age group. The cost of the DVD is €50. The DVD has up on 1000 drills in all the skills of the game in both codes. Primary schools Go Games football blitz   Starting on next Monday, October 8th in football we will be holding GO Games blitz days for all players in fifth and sixth class for all national schools in the county over a two-week period at twelve different venues with all games on a 7-a-side format. Our part-time coaches will be informing the schools with all the relevant details regarding times and venue. Go Games primary school girls blitz We will also be holding a blitz day for all the Convent primary schools within the county next month as well for fifth and sixth classes. More details when venues and dates are confirmed.  Coaching equipment for Secondary schools The Roscommon coaching and games development are giving all second level schools in Co. Roscommon coaching equipment in the form of footballs, set of cones and full set of bibs (30) to help them in their quest to promote and develop football to all their players from 1 st year to senior teams within their schools. This is a big undertaking on behalf of the coaching committee to help the second level sector on all the good work they do in providing coaching and games to our young players. Primary schools awards competition As our part-time coaches are now back in schools the Roscommon coaching and games development are going to launch their new GAA primary schools GAA skills award competition for boys and girls in sixth class in both football and hurling.    Each player will be tested on ten separate skills on three occasions during the year. The player with the best points tally after the three tests are completed is the overall school winner who then goes forward to a regional play-off, where 20 kids will be chosen to compete in the county final.    We would hope each club would help out their local schools in running this new project where all boys and girls are afforded a great opportunity to improve on their skills.  TY coaching programme   The Roscommon coaching and games development are putting in place a coaching programme for TY students in secondary schools which worked so well last year.    The students will receive the foundation and code of best practise course along with gaining first-hand experience out coaching in the national schools with our part-time coaches and helping out with our primary schools go games blitz days.    Games manager Willie Hegarty will be calling to all secondary school schools in the county. Primary Schools football/coaching   All our part-time coaches in both football and hurling are now back in the primary schools for the fourth of our ten-week coaching cycle in all schools within the county.
