All-Ireland U-21 B hurling championship semi-final Roscommon …………………..  1-14 Kildare ……………………………. 1-6 Roscommon’s U-21 hurlers gained some revenge against Kildare – following the defeat of the senior football team to that county -when they reached an All-Ireland final, courtesy of a great win last night (Wednesday).    Roscommon scored a sensational win against Kildare in this All-Ireland B semi-final played in wet conditions in  Mullingar, Co. Westmeath – in the process qualifying for the All-Ireland U-21 B final in a few weeks time.   Roscommon played brilliant hurling from the opening whistle and they led by 0-3 to 0-1 after 10 minutes and by 0-5 to 0-2 at half-time. Roscommon kept up the pressure at the start of the second half and scored five points in a row to race into a 0-10 to 0-3 lead by the 40th minute.   However Kildare came to life and scored 1-2 (the goal from Oisin Lynch) without reply and suddenly there was only two points in it. The sides swopped points (Roscommon’s score  from Michael Kelly) to leave only two in it with 10 minutes left, but then Roscommon scored a crucial goal in the 24th minute.   A long ball from Gerry Fallon was swept to the Kildare net by sub Mossy Connaughton  and when Roscommon followed up with two excellent Gary Fallon points the final place was secure.    It was a brilliant display from a young and skillful Roscommon team in a game that was fast and very exciting.
