There are two massive sporting weekends coming up in County Roscommon over the next two weeks. This weekend hundreds of young footballers from all over the country and their parents and club officials will be in Roscommon for the 2007 Feile na Gael competitions (see also inside). Almost every Roscommon GAA club will be hosting teams of boys and girls footballers. There are scores of preliminary round games in the county on Friday and Saturday with all the finals taking place in Carrick-on-Shannon on Sunday. Then on Saturday the 7th July Roscommon play Kildare in the Bank of Ireland All-Ireland SFC qualifier at Dr. Hyde Park. Throw-in is at 3pm. Kildare enjoy a big following so given a fine day it is expected that a crowd of 5,000 could be expected to attend that game. On Sunday July 8th Dr. Hyde Park will stage the 2007 Connacht football finals. Roscommon will play Galway in the minor final at 12.10 pm while Sligo will play Galway in the senior final at 2.10 pm. A capacity crowd of 28,000 people is expected to attend the all-ticket final. Then on Monday July 9th and Tuesday July 10th there will be racing at Roscommon where a two-day meeting wil take centrestage and an added attraction will be Ladies Day at Roscommon which is on Tuesday 10th July.
