Two men arrested in investigation into Roscommon man’s death

Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a Roscommon businessman  on the Robinhood Road in Dublin last month.

  Ian McDonnell, formerly of Elphin and Roscommon, died on January 23rd after he was hit by his own Volkswagen Passat as he tried to prevent it from being stolen. The 50-year-old father of three was laid to rest on Tuesday of last week following funeral mass at St. Patrick’s Church in Elphin.

  A Garda statement following the arrests read: “The men, both aged in their 20s are currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Garda stations in the South West Dublin area. Investigations are ongoing”.
