Marks & Spencer launched a new alternative to plastic carriers this week – a range of organic cotton shopping bags, featuring stunning portraits of two of its most famous faces, fashion icon Twiggy and supermodel Erin O’Connor. Made from 100 percent organic cotton, the bags have been exclusively designed for M&S by illustrator David Downton. There are four bags in the range, two of which feature Twiggy and Erin. Erin O’Connor, M&S model said: ‘It is so important that we all take steps to reduce the amount of carrier bags that we use, especially when we’re busy doing our Christmas shopping, so I’m delighted to be supporting the new M&S organic cotton shopper. It looks good and is reusable which makes it the perfect alternative to plastic bags. I’ll definitely be taking my Twiggy bag with me when I do my festive shopping." The bags are available from M&S stores across Ireland and cost €3.75. Marks & Spencer is not making any profit from the sale of the bags.
