TV3 documentary to feature Ballagh’ refugees

A documentary which focuses on the arrival of Syrian refugees in Ballaghaderreen is due to air tonight.

‘Ireland’s Refugee Hotel’, a highly emotive and powerful documentary co-produced with the BBC will air on TV3 tonight (Thursday) at 9 pm.

In March 2017, the first of around 240 Syrian refugees arrived in Ballaghaderreen. Amongst the group is Ghassan, aged 21, who fled, leaving his parents behind. With him are his grandmother, aunt and niece and nephew.

Ghassan and his fellow refugees made the Abbeyfield Hotel their home for six months as their asylum claims were processed.
