Eamon Ó Cuív, T.D., Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs has approved €65,000 towards the development of the old school in Rooskey into a new community centre. A total of €506,634 government funding has been provided for the development of this project from CLÁR, LEADER and Dormant Accounts with Community resource of €58,483 bringing the total funding available to the project of €565,117. Elphin Community and Sports Centre Company Ltd. have received a top-up of €30,000 to match the LEADER figure previously allocated. For the development of the Sports Centre, the Community have resources of €60,000 giving a total of €120,000 towards the development of the Centre. Deputy John Ellis welcomes these allocations which will allow two areas in Roscommon to develop much-needed facilities.
