Flashback to Martin Kelly Cup 2007: Cavan and Irish International darts player Aodhagen O’Neill won last year’s Martin Kelly Memorial Cup, held in Mac’s Bar, Roscommon town. O’Neill was not the only international on show on the day.    Longford man Andy Dempsey also featured, but was beaten by a clinical Jimmy Reilly, who won 3-0 courtesy of 115, 113 and 100 checkouts, the 100 checkout rounding off an 11-dart leg. Reilly’s run ended in the last 8 to the eventual winner O’Neill who in beating Reilly hit a 161 checkout – the highest of the day’s action. Jimmy Reilly was not the only local player who shone. Roscommon Youth and Irish U-21 David Concannon, along with Gary Concannon, Thomas Concannon and Mark Finneran, all entertained the crowd at various stages. It was the Irish number one who did most of the entertaining, and underlined his dominance with a 4-1 ‘semi’ win over Martin Murphy and a 5-0 Final win over Irish U-21 Sean Fleming, who played much better than the score suggests.     A reminder that further information can be obtained from Stephen on 087 7426804.
