St. Dominics’ captain Tom Gately was a relieved man that his side had finally won the Intermediate football title after a number of near-misses in recent years. ‘It’s been three long years. We are over the moon’ he said as he clutched the cup in his arms after the presentation ceremony. ‘We have been slated in the past because we were not able to score. We put up 2-13 today and we could have got seven or eight points more, so it shows that we can do it. ‘In fairness we have not been showing in championship games what we have been doiing in training so I wouldn’t blame the local media for doubting us
