Title for Four Roads

Suck Valley U-12 Hurling Shield Final Four Roads …………………. 2-4  Ahascragh/Fohenagh ….. 2-1   Played in sunny condition at a well laid out Woodmount pitch on Saturday last this was always going to be a tough assignment for the Four Roads team against a bigger Ahascragh fifteen.    Playing with the wind in the first half, S. Kelly opened the scoring for Four Roads with a fine point from play. A great save from C. Mears and some good defensive play kept the opposition at bay.    E. Fallon pointed a free before Ahascragh got their first goal. The teams then exchanged points leaving the half-time score Four Roads 0-3 Ahascragh 1-1. An early goal in the second half left Four Roads 4 points down playing against the wind.    With a number of positional switches and substitutions Four Roads got back into the match with a fine point by T. Treacy. A last-minute goal from E. Fallon meant the teams were level and extra-time was necessary.    A goal from J. Fitzmaurice and great defensive effort saw Four Roads win their first Suck Valley U-12 shield final. The team was captained by J. Conroy and showed great heart and determination, particularly towards the end of the match and in extra-time when it mattered.    Four Roads panel: C. Mears, M. Kelly, T. Treacy (0-1), M. Kelly, C.
