Roscommon Town golfer Thomas Higgins completed his first tournament as a professional at the Amgen Irish Open in Doonbeg this week.
Higgins opened with a four-over-par round of 74 on Thursday. He made an encouraging start, recording a birdie and an eagle on the front nine to turn at two under par, before a couple of double bogeys on the back nine saw him finish four over for the day.
He returned on Friday with an improved one-over-par round of 71 but ultimately finished outside the cut mark.
Although his Irish Open challenge came to an end after two rounds, the tournament marked an important milestone for the Roscommon Town golfer in his first event as a professional, with the experience sure to stand to him as he continues his career.
