Joint celebration!
The Roscommon team which won the Connacht Ladies Championship and Roscommon’s All-Ireland Masters Shield winners will be honoured together at the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon town on Saturday, November 10th.
Both sets of medals will be presented to the victorious teams on the night and there will be music by The White Cakes along with a raffle draw with special prizes on offer.
Tickets cost €40 and are available from members of either team or Martina McHugh (087-6539024) and Michael Finneran (083-3484443).

Top darts!
The Hannon’s Hotel sponsored Roscommon Darts League threw up a thriller last Friday night when The Hollywood Bar narrowly lost 5-4 to McDermott’s. Featuring a total of seven 180s and a 13-dart leg from David Concannon, a 15-darter from Thomas Concannon and a 16-dart leg from Martin Fleming, this game had everything. Wayne Harries also deserves a mention as he hit 16 and 17-dart legs in his singles win.
An Bóthar Rua and Molly’s played out another excellent match with the hosts just edging the Ballaghaderreen outfit 5-4. James Sharkey and Fergus Kilroy with 116 and 115 finishes respectively.
In Roscommon town, The Holly Tree proved too strong for Creaton’s as they ran out 7-2 winners while Flanagan’s will play The Three Counties at a later date.

Captain’s Dinner
We tee-off this week in Athlone where a Ladies’ 12-hole Scramble will take place this Saturday (3rd) and that will be followed by the Lady Captain’s Dinner at 6.30 pm. A wonderful evening promised to honour Margaret Egan following her very successful year.
It’s AGM time in Castlerea meanwhile, with the men’s meeting on Monday at 8 pm and the ladies’ taking place the following night also at 8 pm. A Mass for deceased members will take place at the clubhouse on Friday, November 9th at 8.30 pm.
We finish in Roscommon where the recent men’s singles was won by Oliver Hannon Jnr. with 40 points. Terry O’Keeffe was second (39), Matt Farrell was third (37) and Enda Daly won gross (36).
The Senior Ladies’ Christmas Hamper was won by Geraldine Spillane who held off the challenge of runner-up Marina Dolan.

National success
Athlone Gymnastics Club recently competed in the Women’s Artistic National Apparatus Finals in Dublin where Keela, Aoibhinn, Mia and Aimee were among the medals. The Athlone team included: Mia, Kate, Katie, Eleanor, Judy, Tara, Jenny, Aoibhinn, Ciara, Aimee, Keela, Caitlin, Barbara, Nicola, Aoife, Orlaith, Cliodhna, Rachael, Grainne and Stephanie.
