The Roscommon Solstice Choir are set to return to practice next week

After the great success of their show “Songs that Built a Nation” in the Roscommon Arts Centre in June the choir will now perform this show in the Backstage Theatre in Longford on Wednesday September 9th, and Thursday September 10th. The show written by Roscommon playwright and Historian Tommy Murray will highlight “Epic moments of Irish History from 1798 to 1921 in Ballads, Songs, Poems, Music and Speech.
  This show has been wooing audiences with what has been described as “it’s innovative and very refreshing approach to Irish History”.
  This will be followed on September 27th with the choir performing at the 12-noon Mass in the Basilica at Knock. This is a very important honour for the choir who last performed there in 2017.
  Between October 3rd and 8th the choir will undertake a trip to Medjugorje. Members are really looking forward to performing at a number of events and venues there. This has been the hallmark of this group since their foundation in 2013 with Concerts both at home and away.
  Following on from this the choir will then be busy rehearsing for their ever-popular Christmas Concerts which will take place on December 4th in Ballygar, and Granlahan on December 11th. These concerts are all part of their fundraising activities for local causes and charities which so far have netted in excess of €400,000. These Christmas concerts have been described  over the years by many people as ” the real beginning of their Christmas celebrations and festivities”.
