The late Moira Gilleran mourned

The people of Roscommon town and surrounding areas were in mourning when news of the death of Mrs. Moira Gilleran (nee Morgan) spread throughout the community.   Her death took place on Friday, April 13th after a long illness. Mrs. Gilleran, who was in her mid-forties, is survived by her husband Noel, sons Conor and Daire and daughter Niamh, brothers John and Michael, sisters Joan and Brid, sisters-in- law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a huge circle of friends.   The late Moira Gilleran was a native of Ballintubber and was a teacher by profession who taught at St. Mary’s College in Ballygar.   She was very involved with the Brownies Troop in Roscommon Town and was also on the Board of Management on The Convent of Mercy Primary School.   Her remains were removed to the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon on Saturday evening last. She was laid to rest in Kilteevan Cemetary after 10.30 am Mass on Sunday morning.   Huge crowds attended the funeral services and there were Guards of Honour  provided by The Roscommon Brownies; Convent of Mercy, Roscommon; St. Mary’s College Ballygar and Roscommon CBS.   The late Moira Gilleran was a very popular and much-loved woman who fought her illness with grace and dignity and whose passing at such a relatively young age is deeply regretted.
