Opened by Monaghan man Patrick McEnaney and Cavan man Matthew Donnellan twelve months ago, The Brewery has quickly become a firm favourite in the county town.
Located at The Square, the popular pub has been totally refurbished by the two businessmen and now stands out as one of the most colourful venues in Roscommon town.
Patrick and Matthew are understandably pleased with their first year in business and extremely grateful to both their staff and the people of Roscommon for their continued support.
“We’d obviously like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last year, especially our wonderful customers and local businesses in Roscommon,” Patrick said.
“Matthew and myself would also like to thank all of our hard-working staff, Claudia Gormley and Marcella Bligh in particular, for their work over the last eight or nine months,” he added.
Matthew, who has become a popular figure in the town, paid tribute to The Brewery staff before expressing his appreciation for the support shown to the business from day one.
“We were outsiders at the time but we’ve been made to feel very welcome in Roscommon town. I can’t believe how quickly this past year has gone really. We’ve put a lot of work into those twelve months,” he said.
“We started off with a whole facelift to the premises,” Patrick added, “we’ve re-done the smoking area and we hoped to be finished in the coming weeks”.
“We’ve really renovated the place from front to back,” said Matthew before adding: “We feel Roscommon is a really good town with plenty of events going on throughout the year, including Midsummer’s Day with the Stars at the Racecourse, the Roscommon Races, and big football matches. It’s been a really good year”.
The Brewery has become a race day staple with live music in the bar after every meeting. Patrick and Matthew say they are hoping to extend the live music slots to Saturday nights too.
Matthew also believes there’s room for music on Friday nights.
“We would welcome any interested trad musicians on Friday nights. We’ve been here for the past year and from the feedback, we think it would be something our customers would enjoy,” he said.
Looking back over The Brewery’s first year in Roscommon town, Patrick believes it’s a case of ‘A lot done, more to do’.
“We’ve certainly come a long way but we feel we can do a lot more with the pub. As of now, and just in time for another busy weekend of football and hurling this weekend, Sky Sports is now available at The Brewery – the full sports package”.
It promises to be another busy weekend at The Brewery with live music on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and a draw for a weekend break on Sunday night.
As The Brewery enters its second year in business, there will be live music from the very talented Matt Leavy next Tuesday night following racing at Roscommon.
All in all, just another action-packed Bank Holiday Weekend at one of Roscommon town’s most welcoming venues!
