TB incidence

258 herds in County Roscommon were restricted in between January and the end of October 2007, representing 5.26 percent of herds in the county. There are 208,604 bovine animals in the county and 977 reactors were recorded from January to the end of October of this year. The figures represent 3.72 reactors per 1,000 tests. Nationally, 23,071 reactors were recorded from January to October 2007, compared to 20,435 for 2006. With figures for the final two months still outstanding, there has been no Brucellosis herd depopulation this year and reactor numbers are up to 189 from 160 last year. In terms of TB, East Wicklow has the highest incidence of the disease, with one in eight herds having a reactor so far this year.
