Tarmonbarry in Drama Regional Finals

Tarmonbarry Macra Na Feirme club will represent Roscommon at the regional finals of the amateur drama competition in Tuam, which takes place next weekend 8-9th March. Their play, ‘Too Long an Autumn’, is about Maisie-May, a former music hall star, who is sent to a home for retired entertainers. She hates everything about the place and tries her utmost to rebel. Almost at the point of despair, the irrepressible Maisie is rejuvenated by the arrival of Mr. Tavistock-Smyth. The play is produced by Declan Fallon, who also produced ‘Breakfast For One’ which won the Macra Na Feirme National Drama final in 2005. The cast is as follows: Elizabeth Leavy, Gerard Frayne, Jenna Clabby, Stephen McGuinness, Elaine English, Lyndsay Roddy, Keith Banaghan and Damien Doherty. The Tarmonbarry play will be stage on Saturday night, 8th March in The Mall Theatre, Tuam, and will be competing against clubs from Galway, Sligo and Tipperary and the final result will be known on Sunday night. Two plays out of five plays goes on to the national finals taking place 5th and 6th April in Mountmellick Community Arts Centre, Laois.
