Sudden death of Fr. Bernard Horan

On Thursday, April 12th last Fr. Bernard Horan SMA passed away suddenly at his home in Kilteevan where he had served as curate for the past four years.   A native of Co. Sligo Fr. Horan spent over 40 years as a missionary priest in Africa until he returned home in 2002 and he has been the priest in Kilteevan since 2003. He aslo served as the chaplain in The Sacred Heart Home Roscommon.   Fr. Horan is survived by his brother Patrick. His remains were removed from The Sacred Heart Home, to St. Josephs Church, Kilteevan and then to St. Josephs Church, Wilton Cork where the requiem Mass was celebrated on Monday last. He was buried in the adjoining cemetery.   Parishioners in the Kilteevan were this week shocked at the sudden death of the popular priest, who will be remembered fondly in the locality.
