On the shores of Lough Gill, and still only minutes from Sligo Town, St. Angela’s College, Sligo offers a wide range of undergraduate degree programmes. A college of NUI Galway, the St. Angela’s College programmes are accredited by the University, offering the only university-level education in the region.
Academic Departments include Nursing, Health Sciences and Disability Studies (offering programmes in Nursing Degrees; Health and Disability Studies; Disability Equality Studies) Education and Home Economics (offering programmes in Home Economics Teacher Education; Nutrition, Food and Business Management; Fashion Design.
With increasing student numbers, Dr Anne Taheny, President of St. Angela’s College, explains: “Unprecedented growth over the last decade places the College in an excellent position to continue to offer the highest quality University-level programmes with modern campus facilities, small classes and a strong community spirit.”
She continues: “As the initial CAO closing date approaches, we invite prospective students to consider our innovative programmes, particularly in the areas of Health and Disability Studies; Nutrition, Food and Business Management and Fashion Design.”
The College also offers an Access Programme/Diploma in Foundation Studies for school leavers and mature students who wish to study at third level. Participants who successfully complete this Access Course are eligible to apply for direct entry to full-time degree courses at St. Angela’s College or NUI Galway. Core study modules include Study Skills, Applied Writing, Information Technology (ICT) and Educational Guidance.
In addition to the core subjects, students also study taster modules in Sociology, Politics, Economics, Maths, Philosophy, Home Economics, Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Nursing.
This programme helps students to develop confidence in themselves and in their academic abilities and to address any fears they may have about attending third-level. A wide range of full-time and part-time (online/blended) programmes is now available at St. Angela’s College, Sligo and NUI, Galway.
